Michelle Obama is a woman worth admiring!
Michelle Obama was in the spotlight for 8 years as First Lady and even now continues to be part of the most highlighted couple to-date. She is already in her own right a woman of power married to a man of power but that never dimmed her light and nor did her power dim Barack Obama’s light. I observed The Obama’s relationship and I have always found the couple to be worth emulating. However, there is something to learn and admire, from Michelle, as an individual, as a wife and as a mother.
When people ask me whether being in the White House has changed my husband, I can honestly say that when it comes to his character, and his convictions and his heart, Barack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years ago. He’s the same man who started his career by turning down high paying jobs and instead working in struggling neighbourhoods where a steel plant had shut down, fighting to rebuild those communities and get folks back to work because for Barack, success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives. – Extracts from Michelle Obama, DNC Speech
Here is what you can learn from Michelle Obama:
She respects the fact that her success wouldn’t matter if Obama and her children weren’t with her.
She is a woman who despite her success humbly accepts that her role first before anything else is being a wife and a mother.
She is definitely a woman who Obama needs, someone who loves him and encouraged him through his journey as a president of one of the most powerful nations and also continues to support him in his plans and missions after his presidency.
She is a woman who works hard at making sure their children remain grounded despite growing up in a family that is under the watchful eye of the public.
She is a woman who is not afraid to speak how she feels and declare to the world how she loves her husband.
She is a woman who is not afraid to share about her adversities in life.
She is a woman that defines love itself by never competing but instead striving to be supportive to Barack’s journey despite not being sure of it and as God may have it she is undoubtedly rewarded greatly with a husband with whom it is clear they share the same values and he clearly also recognises that he has a woman of substance by his arm.
Michelle and Barack seem to have that balance to the core, and for me, it’s clear that this is achieved because of the love they have as individuals and when together it becomes even more so powerful. There is respect, understanding, they truly care for one another and one thing despite how high profile their relationship may be, they were never afraid to show affection to one another, all these things and more are what makes their love come alive.
Always remember that nothing great was ever built if love didn’t exist in it because it is the driving force that makes an unshakeable difference in anything that you will ever choose to do in life.
I didn’t think it was possible, but today, I love my husband even more than I did four years ago, even more than I did 23 years ago when we first met. – Extracts from Michelle Obama, DNC Speech
Moral of the story be the love that you choose to seek first and that love that you possess shall attract a similar love.
