All new mums are almost always skeptical when it comes to leaving their baby alone for the first time with the house help and for good reason.
We have all seen or heard horror stories of house helps mistreating children or even babies left under their care and they are honestly so terrifying. As a mother your duty is to protect your child and you would die of pain if anything negative were to happen to them. It is really hard finding a good nanny or house help especially one that loves babies or children and if you find one, you won’t want to let go.
All in all, here are some tips you should give to your house help when it comes to matters to do with your baby if you want them well taken care of.
When you have a baby, you eventually get them on a schedule, for sleeping, eating, bathing and the likes. While you’re away, make sure you inform your house help of this so that your baby can continue with some form of routine.
It’s important to teach your house help how to use a thermometer and what the right temperature for your child or baby should be. This will help her in determining if there is anything wrong with your baby and this could literally mean life or death.
If you have children old enough to play outdoors, make sure your house help knows who your children play with, their parents and where they live. You can’t be too careful nowadays.
Encourage your house help to keep a journal of your baby’s activities throughout the day while you’re away; feeding, diaper change, sleeping etc. This can help you monitor any changes when you compare it to yours.
You should tell your house help to call you only when there is an emergency. Other forms of communication should be done via text. This helps you distinguish whether it’s serious or not. Also, let them have a number of someone that’s close by they can call in case of an emergency in case you are too far to be of any help.
