Ok, so I may be a little OCD but…
I don’t like using dried herbs, because there is a noticeable difference in taste and aroma so I end up using too much or too little. Fresh herbs on the other hand are quite difficult to find and when you do find them, they tend to be very pricey. If like me, you like to experiment in the kitchen, but the good Lord made you frugal AF, here are four easy herbs you can plant in your kitchen
Nairobi households just love to love coriander! Is there a dish cooked in this city without this herb? I think not! I get so annoyed when I buy a bunch of coriander and find carrot leaves packed in the middle. That’s just shady! But business is business! Coriander looks very beautiful in a pot just make sure they get enough sun light!
These get confused for garlic a lot, but they are milder in taste and they actually flower when they’re mature. So obviously, this is a favorite of mine because it serves two purposes!
Oh yum. Basil is an important herb for me because of all the tomato based sauces I love to make. It’s very versatile for a leafy herb but no one is complaining! It’s very easy to plant, grows without fuss and you will have no more excuses to not make healthy and out of this world sandwiches
4. Spring Onion
My absolute favorite thing about this is that you can easily plant it in a bottle of water! Yes! I kid you the fuck not! If you have a stalk or two of spring onion left over, just fill a bottle of water half way full and plop them in there. You will get fresh green stalks within the week!
