In Kenya, Rarely will you hear stories about vegans because the staple food is meat. That’s alright too. When someone hears that you’re a vegan, they’ll look at you like you brought politics into the mix. Like are you crazy? They begin to ask you questions as to how you became vegetarian and how you’re dealing with it. well, that’s what I get asked a lot considering that I am vegan myself. Here are some of the benefits of going green.
Studies show that vegans live a much happier life than meat-eating folks. Apparently, research showed that vegans were seen to be less depressed as per compared to people who eat meat. There is an element of freshness per se to most plant-based dishes, especially when it comes to organic produce and so this is bound to purify our minds and keep our thoughts positive. Interested?
2. Disease prevention
I am not saying that Y’all should convert to veganism. Nah. I am simply stating the benefits of being vegan. Due to the fact that they contain fewer saturated fats, vegan diets reduce heart disease risk and what’s more, data shows that vegans and vegetarians suffer from fewer diseases caused by a meat-eating diet. Like coronary heart disease, hypertension, obesity type 2 diabetes, constipation, and gallstones, among others.
3. Weight loss
The upside of this is the fact that you get to lose weight in the process. Plant foods tend to be easier on your digestion as well as Vegans typically weigh less as a result of a diet comprised of fewer calories in the form of grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. Vegans are also generally more aware of healthy food and therefore tend to eat better.
