On the spotlight today is Nandi Madida and her critically acclaimed fashion brand named Colour. The line has received international praise from fashion critics both locally and abroad.
Nandi who is a South African musician, actress, producer and media personality began her life in performance when she was four as a lead ballerina. That experience paved the way for her various titles, including Miss Junior South Africa. On her 30th birthday, she was reminded by her good friend and fellow socialite Minnie Dlamini that during her younger years Nandi had a passion for fashion and would sell custom t-shirts. She reminisced on her dream of showcasing her own fashion line at New York Fashion Week – and that became the dream for Colour.
That was the beginning of the collaboration between Nandi and fashion designer Josh Patron. The line is a celebration of feminine power, luxurious African fabrics, mixed layering and beautiful tailoring which epitomize the label, created for the modern African queen. In 2018 the label made its New York Fashion Week debut.
The mother of two was to drop a new collection in October 2019 according to Sowetan Live. While an October release now seems unlikely, there’s no reason to believe it couldn’t happen this side of 2019. We’ll just have to watch and wait.
