Maribe Fiance arrested for murder
Joseph Kuria Irungu has been arrested for murder.

Joseph is the fiance of popular Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe. He is also known as Jowie. He has been labelled a person of interest in the brutal murder of 28-year-old Ms Monica Kimani in Kilimani area of Nairobi.  Monica was discovered dead in her apartment along Dennis Pritt road last week on Thursday.

The murder is said to have occurred the same day she arrived back in the country from a trip to South Sudan where she manages a family business. Her lifeless body was found by her sibling who had tried to contact her in vain. Her throat had been slit.

Reports indicate that when Maribe’s fiance was arrested, he had a gunshot wound in his shoulder. His explanation was that he had been shot somewhere in Lang’ata.

However,  police claim his story is inconsistent and they are now treating him as the prime suspect in the murder of Monica Kimani.

A senior DCI officer at Kilimani Police station was quoted as saying:

We have the suspect in custody. We have every reason to believe the suspect was involved in the murder. We are also trying to ascertain if he was shot or inflicted the wound on himself because the story he is giving is not consistent.

Three individuals who were last seen in Monica’s house were being investigated but police have now settled on Irungu. They claim used a fake identity card at the main gate. He was also wearing a kanzu which according to them proves the motive to commit a crime.

Irungu is said to work in the UAE in the security sector. He distributes his time between Kenyan and Dubai.
