What is ‘Intermittent Fasting’ really all about?

Intermittent fasting is basically eating during certain hours of the day. It is not really a diet, more of a change in eating patterns.

Common intermittent fasting methods involve daily fasts or fasting for a full day. It may seem like a lot just from the thought of going without food for all those hours but it really is manageable.

If you actually think about it, humans have been fasting for many years , sometimes food was not available and in some religions, it is a part of what they do.

The 16/8 Method

This involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, for example from 1 pm to 9 pm. Then you “fast” for 16 hours in between.

Eat-Stop-Eat

This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.

The 5:2 Diet

On two non-consecutive days of the week, only eat 500-600 calories. Eat normally the other 5 days.
