We just can’t get enough of Goldalyn Kakuya.
The spotlight is on her and we are definitely going to let it shine. She deserves it anyway. The young lady must be as happy as a lark as she has been selected to join one of her top schools of choice, Kenya High. She is, however, town between that and M-Pesa Foundation Academy but we are sure wherever she will end up, she won’t stop shining.
Goldalyn owes some of her success to Dr. Prahba Choksey, an Ophthalmologist based at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi, as she revealed in one of her interviews. It all started in 2015 when she and her parents walked into the doctor’s office, who was offering free eye check ups and glasses for both children and adults with albinism.
Dr. Choksey went on to add, referring to Goldalyn’s mother, Matilda Tanga:
“She told me that they needed support for Goldalyn’s education. They had two other children before Goldalyn and needed assistance with her school fees.”
Dr. Choksey was impressed with Goldalyn’s report forms as she was ever the top student all her life. It was from then on that she continued to support her education. It was an encounter with one patient whose son suffered from albinism that she took up interest in people suffering from the same.
She has and continues to help people with albinism, providing free eye care for them, and she truly is a hero in her own right.
